This week’s prompt was submitted by Suchita Nayar, a first-year fiction writer in the UMass Boston MFA in Creative Writing program:
The ICA Boston organized an exhibition of Yoyoi Kusama’s (Japanese artist; 91 years old; red hair for real!) works called Love is Calling (Sept. 2019-March 2020). Her large kaleidoscopic and immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms (image) feature inflatable tentacle-like forms covered with her signature polka dots, colored LED lights, and painted pumpkins. “Polka dots are a way to infinity,” Kusama says. For her, the earth is a polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos.
